Bronze for Katie O’Keeffe in Riga as James O’Driscoll Enjoys Strong Championship Run

Kanturk Boxing Club celebrated success both at home and abroad over the weekend, with Katie O’Keeffe claiming a bronze medal at the 7th Riga Ladies Box Cup in Latvia.

Katie travelled to the international tournament as part of a strong team from Setanta Boxing Club, Kildare. She produced two impressive performances over the course of the competition, facing opponents from Finland on Friday and Ukraine on Saturday, securing a place on the podium with a bronze medal.

The club expressed its gratitude to everyone at Setanta BC for providing Katie with the opportunity to compete on the international stage and gain valuable experience at such a prestigious tournament.

Katie’s participation in the Riga Box Cup was made possible through the support of her sponsors,  Justin Holland (Holland Headstones), Ashgrove Renewables, O’Callaghan’s Motor Works and Kanturk Credit Union, whose backing continues to play a vital role in helping young athletes compete at the highest level.

Back on home soil, James O’Driscoll has also enjoyed a strong season in the ring. He recently captured the 63kg title at the Munster Championships after an impressive run that included three victories at county level and another three wins at provincial level to secure his place at the National Championships.

O’Driscoll’s journey at the Nationals came to an end at the semi-final stage following a narrow split decision, but his performances throughout the season have underlined his continued progress in the sport.

With athletes performing with distinction both nationally and internationally, Kanturk Boxing Club continues to demonstrate its ability to develop boxers capable of competing on every stage.
