Mallow Author Andrea Mara Behind Award-Winning Thriller All Her Fault

Mallow author Andrea Mara is behind one of the most successful television thrillers of the year, as her novel All Her Fault continues to attract international attention through its award-winning screen adaptation and growing recognition across both television and publishing.

The television adaptation of All Her Fault has earned major awards success for lead actress Sarah Snook, including Best Actress in a Limited Series at the Critics Choice Awards and Best Lead Actress at the AACTA International Awards. The series has also received multiple nominations across major international ceremonies.

The drama is based on Mara’s bestselling novel of the same name, which was adapted for television by Peacock and first aired in the UK last November.

Mara, who was born in Mallow, has built a strong reputation in contemporary crime fiction, with eight published novels to date and an expanding international readership. Her published works include The Other Side of the Wall (2017), One Click (2018), The Sleeper Lies (2020), All Her Fault (2021), Hide and Seek (2022), No One Saw a Thing (2023), Someone in the Attic (2024), and It Should Have Been You (2025).

Transworld has also acquired three further novels from the author, further underlining her growing standing in the thriller genre.

While All Her Fault is not based on a true story, Mara has said the idea was inspired by a real-life incident in April 2015, when she briefly believed her daughter had gone missing after a playdate due to an incorrect address. The experience raised wider questions around parental trust, safety and everyday anxiety.

In interviews and essays, she has reflected on how everyday parenting experiences, work pressures and moments of uncertainty have influenced her writing, often shaping the emotional realism behind her characters and storylines.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Mara spent 17 years working in financial services before moving into freelance writing and blogging after being made redundant in 2015. She has said writing began as a personal outlet during a busy period of raising young children before evolving into a full-time career that has since led to international publishing deals, television adaptation and critical recognition.
