Hennessy, founded by Richard Hennessy, whose family connections trace back to Killavullen, has been named among the world’s most valuable alcohol brands in the latest BrandZ rankings from Kantar.
The renowned cognac brand has an estimated value of $5.18 billion, maintaining its position despite a challenging year for the global alcohol sector.
According to the rankings, overall alcohol brand value declined by seven per cent, making it one of the hardest-hit consumer categories worldwide. However, Hennessy continues to feature alongside international brands such as Guinness, Heineken, Budweiser and Johnnie Walker.
The report also highlights significant changes across the drinks industry. China’s Moutai remains the dominant global alcohol brand with an estimated value of $73.6 billion, while tequila and agave-based spirits have overtaken vodka in popularity across many US bars.
Other notable trends include the growing importance of India as the world’s largest Scotch whisky market by volume and the increasing presence of Chinese and Mexican brands among the global top performers.
