SuperValu Mallow Thanks Community After Ram-Raid Burglary

Danos SuperValu Mallow has thanked its staff, contractors and the local community following a ram-raid burglary in the early hours of Tuesday morning, as Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses.

In a statement, the owners said the incident was “not something anyone plans for, and certainly not the way the week was expected to begin”.

The business said it was grateful to those who responded quickly to secure and repair the premises following significant damage to the shopfront, allowing the store to reopen as soon as possible.

A number of local contractors were acknowledged for their assistance, including Clive Deane of DSL Automation, Burnfort; Tom and Kieran Mills of Drombrook Construction, Mallow; Brian of Pat Enright Glazing, Mallow, and Niall O’Mullane, Burnfort.

The store also thanked Mallow Late Night Pharmacy, and Deborah in particular, for facilitating access through the pharmacy during the incident.

An Garda Síochána were thanked for their response and assistance throughout the day.

Staff were praised for their efforts in ensuring deliveries were processed and customers were looked after despite the disruption. Special mention was made of Tina O’Connor, who attended despite being off duty, and Ray Meaney for his organisation during the morning.

Customers were thanked for their patience following a delayed opening and disruption to online and cake orders.

Gardaí are investigating a ram-raid burglary at the supermarket in the Bellevue area of Mallow at approximately 1.30am on Tuesday morning.

A JCB teleporter was driven through the front of the premises during the incident. A white Peugeot flatbed truck was also used.

No cash was taken during the incident. It is understood the ATM on site had been emptied prior to closing.

The area was later sealed off to allow for a technical examination, and CCTV footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam or CCTV footage from the Bellevue or R619 area between late Monday night and the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Road users are being asked to check for any sightings or footage of the JCB teleporter or a white Peugeot flatbed truck in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31250, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
