Photographer Rory Fitzpatrick Captures High-Intensity Action at Mallow Skatepark Jam

Carrigaline-based photographer Rory Fitzpatrick captured a standout day of skateboarding action at Mallow Skatepark during the Cork Skateboarding Association Mallow Jam, documenting a high-intensity session packed with technical street skating, flow lines, and heavy-impact tricks across the park’s key features.

Using a Canon AV1 and a range of lenses, Fitzpatrick shot the event on film, capturing everything from clean ledge grinds and rail slides to more explosive attempts on the A-frame and transition sections. His analogue approach added a raw, documentary feel to the energy of the day.

“The film was a roll of the dice,” he said. “It was a year or two expired rebranded roll I got in Spain so I didn’t know what to expect.”

The Cork Skateboarding Association delivered a statement event at the Mallow Skatepark, with skaters pushing progression across every zone of the park. The session featured heavy street-inspired skating, technical combo lines, and commitment-heavy attempts on the A-frame setup, drawing strong crowds throughout the day.

Competitions ran across multiple categories, including best grind, best trick, and standout performances on the A-frame feature, with riders linking lines and putting down high-level attempts under pressure.

Skaters described the session as fast-paced and energetic, with continuous runs, improvised lines, and a strong sense of community driving the atmosphere from start to finish.

“It was a class event, definitely made me want to skate more,” Fitzpatrick said.

The Mallow Jam is being seen as a statement event for the Cork skate scene and the first of what organisers expect will be many more sessions at the skateboarding facility.
