Applications have opened for a new Affordable Housing Scheme at Pulleen, Kanturk, with Cork County Council making 20 newly built homes available at prices approximately 20 per cent below market value.
The development, known as Gleann Ealla, has been constructed by Vella Homes and is located within walking distance of Kanturk town. The homes are being offered for sale under the Affordable Housing Act 2021, which aims to assist eligible buyers in purchasing their own home with the support of the local authority.
The scheme includes a mix of two-bedroom and three-bedroom houses, with all properties achieving an A energy rating. The homes are designed to provide modern, energy-efficient living while keeping long-term household costs lower for purchasers.
The houses are generally intended for first-time buyers who do not currently own a home, along with Fresh Start applicants, although a limited number of exceptions apply. Under the terms of the legislation, only one application per person or couple is permitted for the scheme.
Kanturk continues to be a popular location for families and individuals, offering a wide range of local amenities including primary and post-primary schools, shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs, medical facilities, sports clubs and a town park. The town has seen steady growth in recent years, supported by a strong sense of community and access to essential services.
Gleann Ealla is well positioned for commuters, located just off the N72 Killarney Road and close to the R579 Lismire Road. Regular bus services serve the town, while Mallow and Charleville train stations are within easy reach, providing rail links to Cork, Limerick and beyond.
In addition to the affordable homes, a number of properties within the Gleann Ealla development are also being offered for sale by private treaty. The scheme is being marketed by DNG Ryan.
Applications for the Affordable Housing Scheme must be submitted online and will close at 12 noon on Friday, 23 February 2026. Further details and application information are available through Cork County Council’s website, with full property listings also available on Daft.ie.
